President John Mahama has implemented a ban on first-class air travel for his appointees during official trips, stressing the importance of fiscal discipline and the elimination of unnecessary expenditures.
At the swearing-in ceremony of 17 new ministers at the Presidency in Accra, President Mahama urged the eight sector ministers and nine regional ministers to prioritize the safeguarding of public funds.
He called on his ministers to adopt a modest lifestyle, avoid lavish spending, and refrain from luxury travel. The President reminded them that the resources at their disposal belong to the Ghanaian people, and their actions should reflect a commitment to responsible governance.
This move is part of President Mahama's broader approach to running an efficient government, as demonstrated by his recent appointments. Additionally, he hinted at the introduction of a code of conduct to guide the behavior and duties of his appointees.
