Akufo-Addo’s statue at Effia Nkwanta completely vandalised

The statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout in Sekondi, Western Region, has been completely destroyed in an act of vandalism. This is the second time the monument has been damaged since its unveiling to honor the former president’s contributions during his tenure.

The first incident occurred on December 16, 2024, when the statue’s leg was damaged by unknown individuals. Authorities quickly repaired the statue, but no arrests were made, leaving the motives behind the attack unclear.

This recent incident occurred less than a week after President Akufo-Addo left office, with the statue now fully toppled. The statue was originally placed to commemorate the former president’s efforts to improve healthcare and infrastructure in the Western Region. Its location near the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital symbolized the government's initiatives to enhance access to medical care and resources in underserved areas.
