Stop destroying state properties – Mahama to NDC supporters

President John Dramani Mahama has called on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to avoid engaging in activities such as destroying or looting state properties. He emphasized the importance of acting responsibly to maintain the trust of Ghanaians and cautioned against repeating the mistakes made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the past.

His statement comes after reports of alleged destruction and looting by individuals believed to be NDC supporters. Speaking at the National Muslim Prayer and Thanksgiving at the National Mosque in Accra on January 10, President Mahama urged party members to uphold order and refrain from actions that could damage the reputation of the party.

He stressed, “I call on all our supporters and others involved in illegal activities like looting or occupying government offices to stop these actions. We must act responsibly and maintain the trust Ghanaians have placed in us.”

Mr. Mahama also pointed out that Ghanaians voted the NPP out in 2017 due to similar behavior and urged NDC supporters to avoid repeating those actions. He encouraged them to address their concerns through government channels, as new ministers would soon be appointed.

"Government formation is underway, and ministers will be in place soon. If you have any issues, consult with the relevant ministers for resolution," he added. "Please exercise restraint during this time."
