Afua Asantewaa, a Ghanaian entrepreneur and former Guinness World Record contender, has begun her second attempt to break the record for the longest singing marathon by an individual. The challenge, which officially started on December 21, 2024, is taking place in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, and is expected to run until December 25, 2024.
Afua’s goal is to surpass the current record of 105 hours, held by Sunil Waghmare of India. Throughout the event, Afua is live-streaming her performance on her social media platforms, where she is seen singing a variety of songs, supported by a DJ and live band. Fans and supporters are following her progress online, offering their encouragement as she works toward this remarkable achievement.
This is not Afua Asantewaa’s first attempt to break the Guinness World Record. In December 2023, she made her initial effort, which was held from December 24 to 29. Despite completing the marathon, her attempt was disqualified due to technical issues with Guinness World Records’ guidelines.
Afua’s second attempt has generated mixed reactions. While many fans and industry figures have expressed their support, others have raised doubts on social media. Nonetheless, Afua remains determined to claim the record and make history.
As the event progresses, Ghanaians are closely following her journey, hoping that her dedication will lead to official Guinness World Record recognition.
